During the winter and fall of 2018 I visited both Avenir and the Denver Art Museum for discussions and demonstrations centering on Christian Dior and his 1947 New Look, in addition to seeing the Dior retrospective: Dior: From Paris to the World at the Denver Art Museum.
During this evening, I will share with you what I learned and show photographs taken during my visit to see the magnificent first-in-the-USA exhibition in salute of the famous Christian Dior and others that followed in his footsteps after his death in 1947 at the House of Dior.
The exhibition, now in Dallas, is hosting a live podcast from the museum by Dress: The History of Fashion, in which host will discuss what made the golden age of couture so memorable and which designers made a lasting impact, including Dior.
As part of the evening, we’ll listen to the podcast after I give participants a brief lesson on fashion illustration, something Dior was widely known for, before participants sketch and watercolor on their own using pre-drawn fashion sketches during the listening.
Never fear—absolutely no experience needed.
